Without any further ado and complicated intro, let’s go to 5 ways on how to advertise your business when you are just starting.
1. Local advertising
Doesn’t matter if you are offering yoga classes, plumbing, garden renovating, or any other type of business , if you have a low budget, start local.
Don’t get drawn into the marketing guru hellhole where you are going to spend thousands of dollars on presentations about your SEO mistakes. Do not burn your budget on Meta if you have no idea what you are doing.
Starting local means using anything at hand: Facebook groups where you post your services, printing signage and asking if you can leave it in local coffee shops, using community boards or local walls.
It is a great cheap introduction of your brand and it doesn’t cost you an arm and a leg.
2. Create your socials
Again, it doesn’t need to be perfect, but it has to be clear.
If you are offering dog walking, create your Instagram profile and simply keep posting your daily tasks with dogs , your challenges, what’s hard, what’s easy.
Now obviously there is more to it than just posting whatever comes to your mind, but it is a must to have. People want to see what you are actually doing.
3. Google Business Profile
Set up your Google Business Profile so when people search for your service in your area, you actually show up AND you will have a reliable place where people can leave you reviews.
Add photos, services, opening hours, and ask your first customers for reviews. Even 5–10 real reviews will outperform businesses that don’t care.
If you are local and not doing this, you are invisible
4. Partnerships instead of ads
You don’t need more ads, you need access to people.
Find businesses that already have your customers and partner with them.
Dog walker → partner with pet shops or vets
Plumber → partner with real estate agents
Makeup artist → partner with product businesses
You are basically borrowing attention instead of paying for it.
Most beginners ignore this because it takes effort and rejection. But ROI-wise, this beats paid ads when you are starting.
5. Choose a platform
Paid ads are not bad ,wasting money on them is.
Now you have to realise where are you customers looking for your offer and what are their intensions.
Are you offering massage or welness? Well people might look for that on google, so google ads in search might be the answer.
BUT do not target the whole cities, again stay local and focus on the potentional customers around you.
For example:If you are a plumber, run ads only in your suburb for emergency plumbing. If you are a makeup artist, run ads only for event bookings.
The mistake people make is trying to advertise everything to everyone, that’s how you burn money fast.
Small budget = small focus.
Once something works, then you scale. Not before.
And if you’re still not sure, send me an email and I’ll take a quick look at your business and tell you what I would fix first!
